This article, Voodoo Doll, is property of Billy cougar.

This woolen Voodoo Doll belongs to the ascending demon Ashrah, and it is featured as one of the collectable relics under the name "Ashrah's Doll" found in the Konquest mode of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Though this simple "toy" may have originally appeared in Ashrah's fatality in Mortal Kombat: Return of The Dragon King.

With this doll, Ashrah is able to inflict pain on her opponents without physically touching them.

Trivia[]

  • Ashrah's doll is based on the popular legend and the most alluring practice of voodoo dolls, puppets or dolls with the appearances and looks of one's own tormentor and enemy, they are often used by a person using magic to punish those who wronged him or her. The practice of sticking pins in dolls has history in folk magic, but its exact origins are unclear. How it became known as a method of cursing an individual by some followers of what has come to be called New Orleans Voodoo, but more appropriately Hoodoo (folk magic), is unknown. This practice is precisely not unique to Voodoo or Hoodoo, however, and has as much basis in magical devices such as the poppet and the nkisi or bocio of West and Central Africa. These are in fact power objects, what in Haiti is called pwen, rather than magical surrogates for an intended target of sorcery whether for boon or for bane. Such Voodoo dolls are not a feature of Haitian religion, although dolls intended for tourists everywhere may be found in the Iron Market in Port au Prince. The practice became closely associated with the Vodou religions in the public mind through the vehicle of horror movies and popular novels or legends.
  • The demonic organisation of the Brotherhood of Shadow is also known to be practising Voodoo and Hoodoo witchcraft in order to inflict pain on their enemies without physically touching them.
