Colonel Daren is a major villain character featured in Red Dead Revolver. He is also mentioned numerous times in other similar games, like Custer's Revenge and Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin'.

Colonel Daren is actually the colonel of the Mexican Army, preceding Agustin Allende. He is the right-hand-man of Javier Diego and fought for the Union back during the American Civil War, though his rank in the military is unknown.
Interactions[]
Before the events of the game, Daren was present during the battle between the US and the Mexican Armies at Rio Grande and was in charge of the cannons. After General Diego spared the life of Jacques Dixmor (whom they believed was a spy) and became his business partner, Daren was sent to kill off Nate Harlow, Dixmor's old partner, to seal the deal.
At the start of the game, Daren, Smitty and a couple of other outlaws attack the Mould Farm. Daren succeeded in killing Nate and his wife, Falling Star, but Nate's son, Red Harlow, took his father's burned Scorpion Revolver and shot off Daren's arm.
Daren survives the ordeal and after he loses his left arm, Diego pays out of his own pockets to have it replaced with a compact, shoulder-mounted mortar or cannon.
12 years or so later, when Red grew up and became a bounty hunter, Daren captures him after Red ambushes Diego's armoured stagecoach in Mexico, having learned of the part they played in his family's death via Sheriffo Bartlett. When Red escapes Diego's jails with the help of Shadow Wolf, the two assault Diego's Fort, full of the General's soldiers. Colonel Daren later arrives with an injured and captured Wolf, stands on him and proclaims that revenge shall be his.
Despite having a freaking cannon for his weapon, Daren was rather cowardly during the fight and was killed in single combat by Red with TNT. Red took Shadow's Commando Knife and stabbed the deceased Colonel in the chest with it, finally avenging his dead relatives.

Showdown[]
After successfully completing the mission "Fort Diego" with an Excellent rating, Daren becomes available as a playable character in Showdown, but only in his green uniform and two arms, his cannon version isn't playable. His fourth re-coloured model has him wearing the Union uniform he wore during the war and he has the ability to grab and throw the opponent. His special ability is getting an explosive shotgun of his choice.

Daren has been the right-hand of Diego as far as 1866 (or just '66, I call it '666), right after the goddam Civil War where Daren served in the Union. I doubt Diego would be able to make himself General at all, if it weren't for Daren to stand besides him all the time. When his arm was blown off by a young Red Harlow, Diego paid out of his own greasy pocket to have his arm replaced with a mortar, he did pay the best doctors and gunsmiths money could buy.

- He is basically to Diego what Jason Cornet is to Mayor Griffon.
- Daren is very tall, around 6'8. Heck, he is one of the tallest characters in the game, along with Pig Josh, Holstein Hal, Sam, Ugly Chris and Mr. Black.
- His last name is never said in the game's dialogue, only in the strategy guide.
- It is unknown if he personally knew Arthur Morgan, Dutch van der Linde, Griffon or Grandpa despite serving in the same army. Perhaps he knew George Armstrong Custer.
- He appears to had mustache in the past before shaving as evidenced from his wanted poster.
- Unlike his successor, Daren was not a coward and always fought his own battles, even when outnumbered, unlike Agustin Allende, who needed an armoured stagecoach when facing only two men.
- He has the same nickname 'Dare'n' as Darren Brown.
